MANDOZA TAKES NAMIBIALong time client Mduduzi “Mandoza” Tshabalala has made SA history. Being the first South African artist to win two awards and perform at the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMA). Winning Best Collaboration and Best Music Video for his hit single “Ayoba”.Working with Germany based Namibian artist Eric Sell aka EES rocked the stage at the awards. The song is not only making waves in Namibia but also rocking Germany and rumour has it Mandoza will be going to Germany for a few performances.Congratulations, Mandoza taking Africa by storm!

TS Records founded by the multi talented DJ Sbu and TK Nciza has signed a publishing administration deal with Sheer Publishing.   Having cultivated talent such as Mzekezeke, Ntando, Brown Dash, Nhlanhla Nciza, Brickz and Pro; TS Records has definitely made its mark as the company to go to for the best of Urban Music in South Africa. TS Records is now bringing along with them their new sensation Zahara, to join Sheer Publishing.

Zahara the seemly new kid on the block has broken records in just mere months of career beginning. Having sold over 350 000 unit, Zahara is creating a quite a buzz within the international sphere. She has swept the Metro FM Awards and received over 8 nominations at the South African Music Awards.  Zahara has accomplished what most SA Musicians could not in their entire career, grazing the cover of Rolling Stones Magazines is one of those feats.

SAMA BREAKING NEWS!

Zahara, who after taking 8 awards at the 18th Annual South Africa Music Awards has been dubbed the Adele of South Africa. The singer, born Bulelwa Mkutukana, won all but one of the categories in which she was nominated.

She received two of the awards at a gala event on Sunday night, and at the main event night on Monday  she beat off stiff competition for the coveted Album of the Year at an awards ceremony at Sun City.

The songbird also notched up Female Artist of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Best Smooth Urban Music Album, Best Selling Album and Best Collaboration for Incwad’Encane, a duet with George Munetsi.

On Sunday night she won an award for a house version of her hit track Lengoma with DJ Sbu and received another when her hit song Loliwe was named Best-Selling Full Track with more than 30 000 downloads in 2011.  Zahara who Sheer Publishing represents under TS Records has truly shown South Africa that dreams can come true.

Another top winner was Mi Casa taking home three awards for Best duo/Group, Best Dance album and the public vote for Record of the year for their smash hit “These streets”, well done to Sheer Publishing client Sipho Mphahlaza for the amazing production on the album.

Congratulation goes out to our other clients for work on the award winning albums for Crighton Goodwill for his work on the Best Pop album for Lloyd Cele.  The most contested award for Best alternative went to our very own The Dirty Skirts.  Big Nuz took home Best Kwaito album and Elvis Blue with work from our international clients Reverb Music were blessed with Best Adult Contemporary.

PHILIP MILLER WINNING AWARDS AND SCORING NEW MOVIESheer Publishing library music department is proud to announce the recent signing of South Africa’s most celebrated music scorer for film andtelevision. Philip Miller recently scooped a SAFTA Award for Best Music Composition for his work on feature film “Black Butterflies” is currently scoring a yet to be released film entitled “The Girl”.Philip Miller has worked on productions such as The Borrowers, Paradise Stop, Catch a Fire, Yizo Yizo and more recently was nominated at the 32nd Annual Genie Awards, Canada’s equivalent of the Oscars for Best Music – Original score for his work on the gripping movie Bang Bang Club.Amongst other awards most celebrated are his awards for Best Feature Film Soundtrack for “Forgiveness”; Best TV Soundtrack Zone 14 and the Naledi Awards for Best Score for “Rewind a Cantata for Voice”.Philip Miller has also released albums such as Rewind, A Cantata for Voice which saw the production tour the US and South Africa, Black Box / Chambre Noire and White Lion. Philip Miller has been heralded by most media as extraordinary pieces of music with no real parallel.Sheer Publishing is excited to be working with Mr. Philip Miller and congratulations for his nominations and awards.
MAURITZ LOTZ GETS MUSICAL WITH ORDINARY PEOPLESelf taught guitarist, Mauritz Lotz has soared above all expectations earning himself nationwide recognition for his diverse and excellent musicianship.Mauritz has been a member of Sheer Publishing for over 10 years and has proven to be instrumental in production work for the likes of Coleske, Reana and NiaNell.Mauritz has most recently worked on the original score for feature film “Ordinary People” which after just three weeks has grossed over R2m and had earned the top five spot on the Ster-Kinekor’s Top 8 earners over the weekend of 20 to 22 April.
